Central Chiller

Central chillers are the primary refrigeration machines in large-scale HVAC systems, responsible for producing chilled water that serves air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), and process cooling loads across the entire facility. Available in water-cooled and air-cooled configurations, central chillers use vapor-compression or absorption cycles driven by centrifugal, screw, or scroll compressors depending on capacity requirements. In MEP design, chiller selection is governed by cooling load calculations (kW or TR), COP/IPLV ratings, part-load efficiency (NPLV), refrigerant type (R-134a, R-410A, low-GWP alternatives), and integration with the building management system (BMS). Water-cooled centrifugal chillers are preferred for large-tonnage commercial and industrial applications due to their superior efficiency at full and part load; air-cooled screw chillers offer simpler installation where cooling tower infrastructure is unavailable. We supply and commission central chiller packages complete with chilled water pumps, condenser water circuits, expansion tanks, and all associated controls and instrumentation.
